How We Work
01. Assess
After submitting your inquiry form, we assess the exact first steps that are best for you. Unlike the typical experience in healthcare that leaves you more confused afterwards, you’ll receive a step-by-step action plan to start feeling better.
Step No.2
02. Consult
Depending on your action plan, we’ll have a detailed call (or calls as needed) to guide you on your path, find theĀ right doctors for your condition, assess your medical tests, and empower you to feel confident advocating for yourself.
Step No. 3
03. Support
We are here to support you as you continue navigating the healthcare system. Whether you need more intimate levels of support or simply quick check-ins here and there, Primary Advocacy is here to provide ongoing support.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a physician patient advocate?
Healthcare advocacy is the process of helping patients navigate our complex and overwhelming healthcare system. A physician-patient advocate provides a high level of oversight and attention to your case. This can include reviewing your medical records, assistance with appointment preparation, researching treatment options, and communicating directly with your healthcare providers. The goal is to empower you with the information, support, and guidance needed to make informed decisions about your health and streamline communication with your healthcare team.
Does my insurance cover this service?
Your physician-patient advocate is not providing medical care directly and is not a covered benefit under insurance polices. Many insurance policies can assign a case manager to complex cases. Please inquire with your insurance company for case management services. Medicare has proposed covering healthcare navigation services so please check with your Medicare benefits to see if this becomes a covered benefit for you.
Can I upgrade from a one-time consult to a monthly membership?
What if I need emergency assistance?
If you need emergency assistance, please contact your local healthcare providers, go to your nearest hospital emergency department, or call 911. Primary Advocacy operates under normal business hours, Monday-Friday. Based on the needs of each individual client, the hours and means of communication may be updated to accommodate unique situations.
What if I just want a fresh pair of eyes on my case and no medical record review?
This is absolutely an option if you would like to discuss your case without having biased medical records presenting your case. A thorough history can be taken and medical guidance will be given based on the limited historical information obtained.
Do you provide direct medical care?
Dr Jenaya does not provide direct medical care at this time. Healthcare advocacy and medical guidance can support and help you navigate the healthcare system. We will review your diagnosis and make sure it’s appropriate. We may offer an alternative diagnosis and work up for you to take to your treating physicians however we do not provide medical care directly. Our role is to ensure you have the information and support you need to make informed decisions about your care while providing a high level of oversight into your care.
